Rolf Krumbiegle's Layout

December 2000

Dave Pryor, Stretch Andersen and I had a chance to see Rolf Krumbiegle's wondeful layout. The layout is located in a separate shed in his backyard and measures approximately 16'x20'.  The layout is in the shape of a letter S and was originally all analog. It has recently been converted to digital but the signals and switches remain analog. As you will see below the layout is very detailed.

A view of the castle from the train station platform

The castle overlooks a small station below

Somerfeldt catenary is used throughout.

Long trains can be seen in this long stretch of tracks.

The town in the backdrop adds realism to this scene.

A very busy road parallels the train tracks

A close up view of the road.

Lots of details surround every house on the layout

A new DB Cargo loco,  a recent addition to the layout.

Another view of the main road, note the bathers on the river.

Stretch admiring the running trains.

A portion of the mainline still under construction. Below, a hidden yard.

Rolf at the controls.

The main controls are digital and based on the Intellibox.

A trackside view at the station. Here we spot the ETE 25th Anniversary car in action.

Below the main station is another hidden yard.
